Fees, Rebates & Policies

  • The fee for a 50-minute therapy consultation is $250.00.

Individuals with a Mental Health Treatment Plan from their doctor are eligible for Medicare rebates. Upon visiting your doctor or GP, they will make an assessment about whether you are eligible for such a plan and may refer you to a psychologist.

Eligible clients are entitled to up to 10 individual sessions with a psychologist per calendar year. You will need to have your Mental Health Treatment Plan before you come to the first session with your psychologist in order for your rebate to be processed. With a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan, clients will be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate of $141.85. This equates to an out-of-pocket cost of $108.15.

Following payment and session attendance, the Medicare rebate is deposited into your nominated bank account by Medicare within 24-48 hours.

Please note: The Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended 46 to 60-minute consultation fee is $300.00.

  • No. A referral is not necessary. However, if you want to access Medicare rebates you will need an appropriate referral from your General Practitioner or treating Psychiatrist.

  • Individuals: Payment is made on the day of the appointment via our Halaxy payment system with credit card details. Medicare rebates can also be processed electronically on the same day.

Private Health Insurance options are available to both Australian residents and overseas students. If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible to claim rebates for sessions with a psychologist.

  • Storm is able to see clients via DVA. Under treatment cycle arrangements referrals to allied health services are valid for up to 12 sessions of treatment or 1 year, whichever ends first. Clients can have as many treatment cycles as their GP decides are clinically necessary. Clients will need to arrange a referral form their GP prior to their first session.

  • Storm is not available to see clients through any other funding sources, such as NDIS or Workcover. Storm is also not available to see clients for independent assessments required as part of NDIS or DSP applications, or for any medical-legal requirements.

Dr Cory Psychology is not a bulk billing practice.

  • The fee for a 50-minute supervision consultation is $230.00 for provisional psychologists and $253.00 (GST inclusive) for generally registered psychologists and other mental health professionals.

For provisional psychologists completing an internship program with the Psychology Board of Australia, Storm is also available to review case reports for a fee of $200.00/case report. This will include reviewing the case report, providing written feedback and a 15-minute online consultation once the case report has been reviewed to discuss the feedback in more detail or to answer any questions.

  • Please provide more than 48 hours notice in order to avoid cancellation fees. If cancellation occurs within 2 days of the appointment then a 50% cancellation fee will apply ($125.00 for therapy consultations and $115.00 for supervision consultations).

Note that cancellation fees may apply even for unavoidable sickness. A did not attend (DNA) is considered to have occurred if the client or supervisee is late by more than 20-minutes to an appointment.
